About Michigan Phone Directory

Phone numbers for Michigan sit in a lot of separate places. The state keeps one employee directory. Each of the 83 counties keeps its own. Cities, school districts, utilities, and hospital systems all publish their own lists, and the area codes are documented by NANPA and the Michigan Public Service Commission. Finding the right number usually means bouncing between websites that were never meant to work together. We built this site so you can land on the right directory, area-code reference, or hotline without hunting through five other sites first.

Why We Built This Site

Michigan publishes phone information across a lot of offices that do not talk to each other. The State of Michigan Contact Directory covers state employees and nobody else. The Department of State keeps a separate bureau directory. School contacts live in the Educational Entity Master, run by the Center for Educational Performance and Information. Counties handle deeds, courts, jails, and vital records on their own websites. Utilities split emergency lines from billing lines. Public safety runs across 911, 988, 211, and a 311 line that only works in Grand Rapids and Lansing. Add thirteen area codes and the 2025 overlay over Detroit, and the picture gets crowded fast. We pull the lookup tools, contact methods, and reference data together in one place.
